Summary of Services The Probate Division of the Superior Court of California, County of Marin, has jurisdiction over matters including decedents' estates and trusts, guardianships, conservatorships (including limited conservatorships for developmentally disabled persons and Lanterman-Petris-Short Act conservatorships), and other probate case types such as commitments of developmentally challenged persons and establishment of fact of birth, death, or marriage. The court supervises the administration of estates, ensuring the proper management and distribution of a decedent's assets, payment of debts, and protection of beneficiaries' rights. In cases involving guardianships and conservatorships, the court appoints responsible individuals to manage the personal care and/or financial matters of minors or incapacitated adults, respectively.
